On December 14, 2023, the 10-member legislative Certificate of Need (CON) Task Force adopted its final report, which includes the task force’s findings and recommendations. The task force recommended “that further study may provide additional information to guide statutory and regulatory changes in Kentucky’s certificate of need programs.” The report also provides a summary of all testimony provided to the task force, including the KHA recommendations to modernize certificate of need. KHA was the only group that presented recommendations to the task force during its seven meetings.

KHA President Nancy Galvagni said that this was an “excellent outcome” for the task force. KHA will continue to monitor legislative actions regarding certificate of need.
