Health disparities are well-documented and explored. The impact of health disparities on hospital-associated infections and surgical site infections is less well known. In a landscape with growing awareness and widening socioeconomic gaps, the adequacy of universal prevention strategies needs to be assessed. This session will overlay the health equity and health disparities discussions with hospital-associated infection prevention. This session will add to the healthcare diversity, equity, and inclusion discussions and connect infection prevention even more clearly to general public health and community health.
