KHA Presents 2025 Quality Awards

KHA presented its annual Quality Awards during the Quality Conference award luncheon on Wednesday, March 19. The awards are presented to honor hospital leadership and innovation in quality, safety, and commitment to patient care. The winners are shown below pictured with KHA Associate Vice President of Quality and Health Professions Casey Franklin.


Psychiatric Hospital Category – Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System for implementing a seclusion-free environment for their patients.


Long-Term Acute Care Hospital Category – Select Specialty Hospital - Central Kentucky for improving the insulin administration process for their patients using innovative and sustainable solutions


Critical Access Hospital Category – Deaconess Union County Hospital for a process improvement project focused on quick identification and treatment of stroke patients in the Emergency Department.


Acute Care Hospitals with <100 Beds Category – UofL Health - South Hospital for initiating a project that improved their patient experience scores by 20 percentile points within six months.


Acute Care Hospitals with 100-250 Beds Category – CHI Saint Joseph Health - Saint Joseph East for a project aimed at improving SEP-1 bundle compliance, which reduced the risk for sepsis-related morbidity and mortality.


Acute Care Hospitals with >250 Beds Category – Baptist Health Corbin for a project aimed at improving outcomes for patients in the emergency department with severe sepsis & sepsis shock. The project reduced mortality rates and achieved a compliance rate high above the national goal.


Hospital Systems Category – UofL Health for an initiative to improve care for suicidal patients.


In addition to the Quality Awards, KHA presented awards for outstanding poster presentations in several categories. Winners are pictured below with KHA Senior Vice President of Data, Operations, and Innovation Melanie Landrum.
