Kentucky State Senator Stephen Meredith was honored with the Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA) Award of Excellence during a ceremony at Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center in Leitchfield.
KHA’s Award of Excellence is a prestigious award given to individuals who have made significant contributions to health care in Kentucky, and Senator Meredith has continually shown this commitment throughout his time in the State Senate.
Elected to the Senate in 2016 after retiring from a successful career in health care, Senator Meredith is known for his strong advocacy for health care, fiscal responsibility, and economic growth. He is also dedicated to fostering economic growth and supporting local businesses across his district. He serves as Chair of the important Senate Health Services Committee, where he has shined due to his extensive experience.
Despite the fact that he didn’t intend to focus on health care as a senator, his background has shaped much of his legislative agenda. Once he arrived in Frankfort, it became obvious he needed to concentrate on health care and people expected it. His colleagues in the legislature respect his expertise and his resolute determination to safeguard access to quality care for the people of Kentucky.
He has also worked tirelessly to ensure Kentucky patients continue to have access to care and services through reforms to 340B, Medicaid managed care, and pharmacy benefit management in the Commonwealth, fighting David and Goliath battles against big pharmaceutical manufacturers, insurance giants, and more.
With a true passion for rural health care, there is no better advocate for Kentucky’s patients than Senator Meredith, especially for the importance of rural health care and the challenges rural Kentuckians face with access to care.
