KYSOS Welcomes Ephraim McDowell Health to Outpatient Primary Care Program

Share

The Kentucky Statewide Opioid Stewardship (KYSOS) team is pleased to welcome Ephraim McDowell Health to the Outpatient Primary Care program, for hospital-owned primary care clinics. KYSOS utilizes the Six Building Blocks (6BB), a team-based approach to improving opioid management in primary care. The program was created by a physician-led multidisciplinary team from the University of Washington Department of Family Medicine and the Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute. The program is a “clinic redesign” with goals to consistently treat chronic pain patients on long-term opioid therapy in accordance with evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.

Ephraim McDowell Health joins Appalachian Regional Healthcare, T. J. Regional Health, AdventHealth Manchester, Owensboro Health Medical Group, and Harrison Memorial Hospital in the Outpatient Program. Thank you to these health systems for their commitment to safe, consistent, and patient-centered opioid management throughout primary care.

Ongoing recruitment and education about this program are a priority of the KYSOS program. If your facility would like more information about the 6BB program, please contact the KYSOS Outpatient Team: Shanna Jaggers (sjaggers@kyha.com) or Marilyn Connors (mconnors@kyha.com).
