KHA Quality Team Honors Latest Patient Safety Hero

The KHA Quality Team recently honored the newest KHA Patient Safety Hero, Shana McFerron, Respiratory Therapy Director and Safety Officer at Select Specialty Hospital - Central Kentucky.

The KHA Quality Team recently honored the newest KHA Patient Safety Hero, Shana McFerron, Respiratory Therapy Director and Safety Officer at Select Specialty Hospital – Central Kentucky.

McFerron was nominated for the KHA Patient Safety Hero Award by a colleague in recognition of her strong focus on patient needs and outcomes. She actively engaged associates across the organization in efforts to eliminate pressure injuries and foster a culture of shared responsibility for patient safety.

Leading with calm determination and a patient-first mindset, McFerron helped educate staff on how easily pressure injuries can occur and emphasized that prevention is everyone’s responsibility. Her work in pressure injury prevention exemplifies the very best of teamwork and quality health care — safe, innovative, and collaborative.
