KHA Presents Legislative Awards

Last week, KHA presented two awards to state legislators, who have worked to support hospitals and access to care in Kentucky.

On September 18, the KHA team traveled to UofL Health – South Hospital in Shepherdsville to honor State Senator Mike Nemes as a KHA Legislative Hero in honor of his commitment to supporting access to care in communities across the Commonwealth. Nemes worked with Senate Health Services Committee Chair Stephen Meredith on several issues, but KHA was especially grateful he spoke on the Senate floor and in committee regarding the 340B program and the need to treat Kentucky hospitals fairly.

“We must protect our rural hospitals from unfair business practices because they are the ones making sure families have quality health care close to home,” Nemes said. “This recognition from the KHA is really a tribute to the dedication of our rural providers and community leaders, who lend their hearts and their hands every day to care for Kentuckians when they need it most.”

On September 19, KHA honored Representative Ryan Dotson with the KHA Legislative Champion Award during an event at Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester.

KHA expressed appreciation for Representative Dotson’s work supporting the 340B Drug Pricing Program. He asked tough questions of Big PhRMA in committee and was a stalwart voice for rural hospitals with the House leadership and on the floor.
