KHA Town Hall: KBN’s Clinical Instructor and Preceptor Workshop

Based on conversations with members and schools of nursing, this virtual session will use didactic lecture with Power Point to address the need for more practical, real-world training for clinical instructors and preceptors to better support student learning and improve nurse recruitment and retention.

Objectives: At the conclusion of this offering, attendees will be able to:
- Understand the importance of tying course objectives to clinical experiences
- Create a conducive learning environment in the clinical setting
- Evaluate how students are doing
- Identify what nurses need to know to become strong instructors/preceptors
Target Audience: Hospital nurses, educators, HR team members, and other leaders interested in improving the clinical instruction and preceptor experiences to teach and recruit future nurses
Continuing Education: The Kentucky Hospital Association is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN). KBN approval of a continuing nursing education provider does not constitute endorsement of program content. This educational activity is offered for 1.2 contact hours, with offering number 5-0023-12-27-09, expiration date 12-31-27. No partial credit will be given. To receive credit, participants must attend the entire educational offering, provide their nursing license number, and complete the offering evaluation. After the conclusion of this webinar, a Survey Monkey evaluation link will be sent to attendees. Attendees will have a deadline of 03/02/2026 to complete the survey in order to receive the CEU certificate. Failure to complete any step in the process outlined above will result in non-issuance of CEU credit in accordance with KBN guidelines.
