Rural Health Scholars is a four-week summer program for college students in pre-health tracks who are interested in serving rural populations. Held annually in June, the program immerses participants in rural Kentucky health care through clinical shadowing, community-based learning, and exposure to region-specific challenges and assets. The experience is designed to deepen students’ understanding of rural medicine by highlighting both the barriers and strengths that shape care delivery in underserved areas.
