Kentucky Hospital Association Condemns Scurrilous Allegations Regarding Abortion and Child Mutilation

The Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA), speaking on behalf of its 128 hospital members, strongly condemns allegations that any Kentucky hospital uses savings from the 340B drug pricing program to engage in behavior that would be illegal under Kentucky law.

Such allegations, funded by the pharmaceutical industry, are intended to be inflammatory, to misinform, and to detract from Big Pharma’s record of discriminating against Kentucky hospitals, primary care clinics, and their contract pharmacies while raising drug prices.

KHA President Nancy Galvagni stated, “Big Pharma should be ashamed and is trying to scare people into opposing Senate Bill 14, legislation that would require giant pharmaceutical companies to treat our hospitals and contract pharmacies the same way hospitals and contract pharmacies are treated in other states.”

The 340B program is only available to safety-net hospitals and primary care clinics, which treat a high number of poor, under-insured, and uninsured patients. The program allows these hospitals to purchase prescription drugs for their outpatient patients at a federally agreed upon price.

Big Pharma is actively working to destroy the 340B program to pad their profits.

About the Kentucky Hospital Association: KHA was established in 1929. The Association represents hospitals, related health care organizations and integrated health care systems dedicated to sustaining and improving the health status of the citizens of Kentucky. The Association is headquartered in Louisville.
