SUMMARY:KHA Webinar: CMS Swing Bed Requirements
DESCRIPTION:KHA will host a one-hour long webinar on CMS Swing Bed Requirements on Wednesday\, January 15 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM EST. This webinar is free to KHA members and requires a registration process. \n\nContact criley@kyha.com if you are interested in attending\n\nSwing Beds can be a financial lifeline for Critical Access Hospitals. This webinar will focus on swing bed regulations in Appendix W for Critical Access Hospitals. Interpretive guidelines and survey procedures are under Appendix PP – Long Term Care manual\, which will be discussed in the corresponding regulation sections. \nIt is challenging to figure out what the interpretive guidelines and survey procedures are as there is no crosswalk between Appendix W – for CAH – and Appendix PP – Long Term Care. This webinar was created to assist hospitals in understanding what needs to be done. \nAlso to be discussed will be common deficiencies involving swing beds and how to avoid them. \nObjectives- At the conclusion of this offering\, attendees will be able to:  \n\nDiscuss the requirements for a patient to be admitted to Swing Bed status\nRecall how to locate the regulation and interpretive guidelines and survey procedures for swing beds\nDescribe what is required by CMS to be in the resident assessment which is done to do the care plan\nRecall the CMS requirements for emergency dental care for swing bed patients\n\nSpeaker\nLaura A. KBN approval of a continuing nursing education provider does not constitute endorsement of program content. This educational activity is offered for 1.2 contact hours\, with offering number 5-0023-12-25-031\, expiration date 12-31-25. No partial credit will be given. To receive credit\, participants must attend the entire educational offering\, provide their nursing license number\, and complete the offering evaluation. After the conclusion of this webinar\, a Survey Monkey evaluation link will be sent to attendees. Attendees will have a deadline of January 22 to complete the survey in order to receive the CEU certificate. Will identify how HANDS community level programs work with health care providers for a strong continuum of care while reducing infant\, child\, and family risks/vulnerabilities. \nPresenter:\nShawna Donaldson joined the KY Department of Public\, Division of Maternal and Child Health\, Early Childhood Promotions – HANDS team in June 2024 as the Human Services Program Supervisor. In her state role\, Shawna provides support to the state focused on federally funded projects\, CQI\, budget\, and HANDS operations. Shawna’s professional experiences include over 20 years in early childhood home visit\, 14 of those years managing a local HANDS program. She will be joined by Dr. Steven J.
