SUMMARY:2024 State Association Webinar Series - Part 1 of 4: Playing the Long Game: Moving Beyond Cost Cutting
DESCRIPTION:Leading healthcare systems must focus on performance improvement (reducing costs) and growth. Typically\, the focus on cost-cutting is the common reaction to headwinds . . . 89% of hospitals currently have a cost-reduction plan (but only 6% characterized their programs as effective!) However\, growth can have a greater near- and long-term impact on value. Growth can have a compounding effect on value creation and come in a variety of ways: Grow revenue at the same margin (top line); Substitute lower margin for higher margin services (bottom line); Expand volumes in higher margin services (top and bottom line). \nSpeaker:\nCraig Deao\, MPH\nHuron \n\nRegister Here\n\nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing your login information. Please contact Tammy Wells for more information. \n  \n\nIn support of improving patient care\, Huron is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)\, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)\, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. \nThis activity was planned by\, and for\, the healthcare team\, and learners will receive Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credits for learning and change. \nHuron Consulting Services LLC has designated this activity for 1 CE credit for physicians\, nursing\, and pharmacy professionals.

SUMMARY:KHA Quality Webinar: Artificial Intelligence: Can it Assist the Infection Preventionist with Surveillance?
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for September’s Quality Webinar where Dr. Ruth Carrico will discuss AI and infection prevention. Surveillance of both processes and outcomes is a fundamental element of infection prevention practice. It is also one of the most time consuming and resource intensive activities and requires specialized knowledge and clinical acumen. Further\, workforce shortages and influx of new personnel requiring targeted and ongoing education\, training\, and competence assessment result in further stress on this important process. Artificial Intelligence has provided new avenues for information that should be explored. This session will provide some introductory information regarding AI and its potential uses as an assistance to the infection preventionist. Using surveillance approaches\, NHSN definitions\, case scenarios\, and pilot project outcomes\, AI will be explored and demonstrated. \n\nKHA MEMBERS: CLICK HERE TO REGISTER\n\nNon-members: Please contact Tammy Wells for more information.

SUMMARY:Special KHA Town Hall - Loper Bright and the post-Chevron Age
DESCRIPTION:Join KHA on Thursday\, October 3 at 10:00 a.m. ET for a Special Town Hall on Loper Bright and the post-Chevron Age – An Overview for Kentucky Hospitals. \nOn June 28\, 2024\, the U.S. Supreme Court abandoned 40 years of caselaw when it overruled the Chevron doctrine in Loper Bright Enterprises\, Inc. v. Raimondo. The Chevron doctrine allowed administrative agencies to enjoy a level of deference when agency regulations were challenged in the courts\, but Loper Bright directs federal courts to exercise their “independent judgment” when determining whether an agency acted within its statutory authority. The impact of Loper Bright will be felt by every federally regulated industry in the United States. \nThis presentation will provide a short overview of how Loper Bright has changed administrative law in the courts and will discuss how Kentucky health care providers may need to adjust to the new legal landscape. \nSpeaker:\nWes Butler \nBarnett\, Benvenuti & Butler\, PLLC \nThis is a KHA Members-only webinar. Please register at the link below. You will receive a confirmation email containing your unique login information shortly after your registration has been approved.
