SUMMARY:KHA SDOH Webinar: Putting the “Z” in “E-Z”: Using Z-Codes (and Acing Your Documention!) for Social Drivers of Health
DESCRIPTION:It’s no secret that Social Drivers of Health (SDoH) have taken a key position in healthcare screenings and care planning for patients across America. Here in Kentucky\, the increasingly stringent expectations for healthcare organizations to support the needs of patients identified as being at risk for less-than-optimal outcomes due to SDoH factors have illuminated new challenges for documentation\, coding\, and billing of conditions that are classified under the SDoH domain. ICD-10 “Z” Codes for SDoH allow physicians\, hospitals\, coders\, health systems and payers to better track our patients’ needs and identify solutions to improve the health of Kentucky’s communities. Understanding these “Z” codes is crucial. Therefore\, the KHA Quality Team is proud to introduce a true content expert\, Karen Scott MEd\, RHIA\, CCS-P\, CPC\, FAHIMA\, who will join us in this upcoming webinar to teach us about the best practices surrounding the use of these codes and supporting documentation within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) regardless of the system you are currently using. We will also hear from a few of our own Kentucky hospitals who are leading the charge in the effective utilization of Z-codes for their SDoH documentation. \nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing your login information. \n\nKHA MEMBERS: CLICK HERE TO REGISTER

SUMMARY:Cyber Tabletop Exercise (In-Person)
DESCRIPTION:All attendees will engage in a group critical thinking and strategic leadership cyber incident exercise. This highly interactive session is designed for both technical and non-technical leaders and structured to test incident response plans\, identify gaps\, and elicit strategic decision-making skills under simulated adversarial conditions. \nThis event is part of the Cybersecurity Crisis Management: Strategies for Health Care Executives series.\n\nThis series is a worthwhile investment for both technical and non-technical professionals including CEOs\, CNOs\, CFOs\, CMOs\, CIOs\, CROs\, COOs\, senior leadership\, nursing leadership and IT department. \nHospitals across the United States continue to be targets of ransomware and other types of cyberattacks. Not only can these events result in significant and costly breaches of patient information\, but they also threaten hospital operations and patient outcomes. System encryption can result in denial of access to life-saving information and medical equipment\, while recovery diverts resources from essential operations. Enterprise-wide education on risks and prevention continues to be critical to an organization’s cyber defense strategy. The Kentucky Hospital Association is proud to partner with the American Hospital Association and Stites & Harbison to provide this important series of educational opportunities. \n\nDownload Brochure\nContact: Tammy Wells

SUMMARY:Webinar: From Denials to Recovery: Upgrading Your Approach to DRG Downgrades
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Annabelle Seippel\, VP of Denials Management Services\, CorroHealth \nDRG downgrades significantly threaten hospital revenues. The payers continue to change the rules of the game. Unlike traditional denials\, DRG downgrades are “hidden denials\,” often initiated by audit firms and may span months\, or even years\, from the patient’s discharge. To manage this challenge effectively\, hospitals must shift their thinking – spanning from DRG identification to the appeals processes. This new webinar dives into the heart of the DRG downgrade challenge\, offering insights and strategies to turn potential revenue losses into opportunities for financial resilience. \nJoin “From Denials to Recovery: Upgrading Your Approach to DRG Downgrades” and learn insights into root causes\, proactive management tactics\, and the value of strategic partnerships. Attendees will leave equipped with practical solutions to optimize denials management processes and ensure financial stability. \nClick here to register.

SUMMARY:Kentucky Certified Healthcare Contractor Program & Exam
DESCRIPTION:The Kentucky Society of Healthcare Engineers (KSHE) will host a virtual 2024 Kentucky Certified Healthcare Contractor Program and exam on Thursday\, June 13. The purpose of this landmark program is to educate contractors (owners\, operations managers\, project managers\, etc.) in the many critical aspects that are unique to working in health care facilities. \nHospitals created the concept of 24/7; therefore\, whenever a contractor performs services in a health care facility\, the team of employees must be familiar with patient safety\, patient privacy\, infection control\, risk assessment and more. This program provides the knowledge needed to successfully navigate the rules and regulations by which hospitals and their contractors must abide. \nKSHE membership has long supported the concept of certifying contractors who wish to work in Kentucky hospitals. The emphasis is on “Certification” because at the end of this 1-day program\, there is a certification exam. Those who pass the exam will be designated “Kentucky Certified Healthcare Contractor.” This certification will be valid for 3 years. During that time frame\, opportunities will be available to earn continuing education credits in order to maintain certification\, or prior to the end of the 3-year term the contractor can re-take the course. \nClick here for more information.

SUMMARY:From Resistance to Revolution: Transforming Health Care with New Performance Metrics
DESCRIPTION:Join KHA Solutions Group Affinity Partner CorroHealth on June 20 at 11:00 a.m. PT (2:00 PM ET) for their upcoming session with Dr. Jerilyn Morrissey. \nHungarian physician Dr. Ignaz Semmelweis had a breakthrough discovery in infectious disease prevention in 1844\, earning him the title of “father of handwashing.” Through the lens of Dr. Semmelweis’ groundbreaking work\, CorroHealth examines the prevalent resistance to change that continues to plague modern health care. With half of all hospitals and health systems still operating at a financial loss\, its apparent traditional “transactional” metrics\, such as Denial Rates\, Case Mix Index\, and Length of Stay\, lead to a misguided sense of success. \nIn this session\, Corrohealth will guide attendees towards adopting metrics that accurately assess hospital performance\, rooted in robust benchmarks and a deep understanding of variance causes. By changing the approach to tracking and measuring success\, it refocuses efforts on strategic goals rather than processes. This session is designed to inspire health care professionals to adopt and champion modern metrics focused on strategic objectives for efficient health care delivery while prioritizing patient safety and well-being. \n\nRegistration\n\nFor more information\, please contact Laura Penton (469-768-0075 or Laura.Penton@CorroHealth.com). \nLearn more about how CorroHealth’s clinically led health care analytics and technology-driven solutions can positively impact your hospital’s or system’s financial performance at https://www.kyha.com/kha-solutions-group/affinity-partner-program/#corrohealth or email yourteam@corrohealth.com.

SUMMARY:Threat & Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment & Stakeholder Preparedness (MGT-310)
DESCRIPTION:This course introduces the six-step THIRA/SPR process which includes identifying threats and hazards that stress a community’s capabilities\, giving context to those threats and hazards and identifying associated impacts consistent with specific factors\, identifying community-specific capability targets\, assessing current levels of capability in comparison to those targets\, identifying capability gaps and subsequent strategies to close those gaps. Successful completion of the course will assist local emergency responders and stakeholders in generating actionable preparedness data that communities can use to support a variety of emergency management efforts\, including planning\, training\, exercises\, and incident response and recovery. THIRA/SPR-informed planning is consistent with and expands on nationally accepted emergency management standards as the basis for planning across the mission areas of prevention\, protection\, mitigation\, response\, and recovery. \nInformation: https://teex.org/class/mgt310/ \nRegistration: https://tinyurl.com/yv9jenv6 \nAudience: Hospital Emergency Management
