SUMMARY:American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Kentucky Chapter: Building the Hospital of Tomorrow
DESCRIPTION:In today’s competitive marketplace\, significant capital expenditure decisions can make or break a health care organization and the career of the executive(s) tasked with such decisions. No capital decision may be greater than the construction of a new facility or the substantial renovation of an existing one. After years of relative dormancy\, the health care construction boom continues throughout the U.S. for a variety of reasons\, many of which impact both small community hospitals and large urban health systems alike. The most common reasons for the renovations\, expansions\, and replacements include aging facilities\, population growth\, market demand\, and the need to improve operational efficiencies. Additionally\, competition moves organizations to incorporate the latest advances in care delivery\, medical technology\, new building codes and healing design elements to enhance the patient’s experience through the surrounding environment. Changes in building codes and patient safety standards also drive the need for construction and modification.  \nJoin the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Kentucky Chapter on February 29 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital Auditorium to earn 1.5 hours of face-to-fact credit\, learn from an expert panel as they discuss building the hospital of tomorrow\, tour Health Force One mobile unit\, and enjoy a networking event following the educational session.  \nMember registration is $30\, non-members are $40\, and students are free. \nClick here for more information

SUMMARY:ASPR Medical Response Surge Exercise TTX: West KY HCC Region
DESCRIPTION:WKYHCC Medical Response Surge Exercise – KY Healthcare Coalitions (readyop.com) \nThe basis of this exercise will focus on multiple mass casualty events occurring simultaneously throughout the region. The goal of the exercise will be to “SURGE” our 16 regional hospitals with 20% of their daily patients. For west Kentucky\, that will be around 255 patients. These will not be real live patients. These will be patient cards that include a few demographics and injuries sustained.  The “PLAY” will start with a ReadyOp Alert\, it is then up to each facility/ organization to decide how they will respond. \nHospitals will decide on if they are activating their facility incident command. They will “receive” patients using ReadyOp Patient Tracking\, and either admitting and treating\, or “transporting” to another facility. Does your facility know how HICS works? Use this as a chance to train new staff who have never worked a large-scale event. \nThis is an adaptable exercise. There will be multiple opportunities to learn more about how to participate in a series of informational meetings leading up to the MRSE. These dates include Feb. 19\, Feb. 26\, March 4\, March 11\, and March 18. \nContact: billie.newbury@ky.gov
