Dewane received the KHA Patient Safety Hero Award for her exceptional attention to detail, proactive approach, and commitment to creating a safer environment for patients and staff. She consistently goes above and beyond her role by identifying potential safety and environmental hazards, including loose objects in patient care areas, leaks, water concerns, and damaged equipment that could increase safety or infection risks. Dewane not only identifies concerns but also takes action, communicates with the appropriate teams, and follows through to help ensure issues are addressed. Dewane’s dedication, willingness to speak up, and commitment to maintaining a safe environment demonstrate the important role environmental services plays in protecting patients and staff.
