Kentucky Hospital Association Quality Award
Honoring Leadership and Innovation in Patient Care Quality, Safety,
and Commitment Application
2008
The Kentucky Hospital Association
Quality Award is presented to honor hospital leadership and
innovation in quality, safety, and commitment in patient care. The goals
of this award are to:
- Raise awareness of the need for an
organization-wide commitment to highly reliable, exceptional
quality, patient-centered care
- Reward successful efforts to develop
and promote a systems-based approach toward improvements in quality
of care
- Inspire organizations to
systematically integrate and align their quality improvement efforts
throughout the organization
- Communicate successful programs and
strategies to the hospital field
- Facilitate Kentucky hospitals’
alignment of quality initiatives with national initiatives
Hospitals are
asked to describe how patient safety and
quality have been integrated into the
hospital’s culture through leadership and
achieving quality goals. Applicants are also
given the opportunity to showcase specific
quality or patient safety initiatives unique
to the hospital.
All Kentucky acute care
hospitals are eligible to apply. Four awards
will be presented based on acute bed size:
- Critical Access Hospitals
- <100 beds
- 101—250 beds
- >250 beds
The award was first
presented at the 2006 KHA Awards Gala to
four worthy recipients:
- St. Elizabeth Medical
Center/Grant County
- Rockcastle Hospital
- St. Claire Regional
Medical Center
- St. Joseph Healthcare

Applications are due by close of business on
April 16. Awards will be presented at the
KHA Annual Convention Awards Banquet on the
evening of May 12.
