What provides the greatest benefit to a hospital for the investment?  Should you engage in “social media?”  How do you measure the results?  We will discuss best practices in this new area of interactive communication and the techniques that have proven to be successful — providing the strongest connectivity to patients, physicians and the general public.

Al Cross is Director of the Institute for Rural Journalism and Community Issues at the University of Kentucky and a former weekly newspaper editor and manager and political writer for The Courier-Journal. For the last three years, he has been working to build bridges between health professionals and journalists so journalism can be a tool for helping rural Americans live healthier lives. This presentation will examine recent changes in news organizations and the implications for health care providers and journalists covering health care.
